WESTMORELAND COUNTY – Newly elected Rep. Jill Cooper (R-Westmoreland) has opened the doors to her first district office, which is currently available to constituents.
“Being available to constituents is amongst the highest of my priorities and I am thrilled to open an office just a few days after assuming my new role,” Coopers said. “I have seen firsthand that constituents often run into issues with state departments and my office is a place where they can come for help.”
The office, located at
3091 Carson Ave. in Murrysville, is the first of three sites that will be operated by Cooper and her staff. In December, visitors to the Murrysville office are by appointment only as other offices are equipped with the necessary features to serve the district. The phone number is 724-387-1281. Other offices in New Kensington and Washington Township/Export are scheduled to open sometime in January.
Two of the staff members worked with previous House members and bring with them a strong skillset in district services. Constituents are encouraged to contact the office with any question or concern regarding state government and Commonwealth programs, such as unemployment compensation concerns, Department of Transportation paperwork and assistance with completing a Property Tax and Rent Rebate application, which is eligible to seniors and people with disabilities.
“In Harrisburg, I’ll be working to eliminate red tape and unnecessary bureaucracy, but in the district, folks often need assistance with paperwork or getting through to a state office,” Cooper said. “With 11 years of experience between them, these staff members are prepared to assist constituents in sorting through a variety of issues.”
The 55th Legislative District includes the cities of Arnold, Lower Burrell (part) and New Kensington; the townships of Bell, Derry (part), Loyalhanna, Salem, Upper Burrell and Washington; the boroughs of Avonmore, Delmont, Export, New Alexandria and Oklahoma; and the Municipality of Murrysville.
