Cooper: Nearly $3 Million Awarded to 55th District Neighborhoods
December 18, 2025
HARRISBURG – Rep. Jill Cooper (R-Westmoreland) today announced municipalities in the 55th Legislative District will receive almost $3 million in grants approved through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).
“Local governments go above and beyond to keep their budgets in check, yet still provide the services valued by residents and businesses,” Cooper said. “I can think of no better use for these grants, and I was thrilled to work with Sens. Kim Ward (R-Westmoreland) and Joe Pittman (R-Armstrong/Indiana/Jefferson/Westmoreland) in seeing these projects get the boosts needed to get them across the finish line.”
An effort to bring a baseball field to Seanor Park in Salem Township is brought one step closer to completion with a $150,000 grant though the CFA’s Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program, funded by the Marcellus Legacy Fund created by Act 13 of 2012 to provide for the distribution of unconventional gas well impact fees.
Also awarded were several Local Share Account grants, which support economic development, job training, community improvement and public interest projects through gaming funds generated at Pennsylvania casinos.
The CFA is an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development. It distributes funding through several programs dedicated to economic growth.
LSA disbursements to the 55th Legislative District include:
• Delmont Borough, $708,000 for improvements at the Cramer Lift Station Sewer Shed and a sanitary sewer replacement project on Tollgate Lane.
• Derry Township Municipal Authority, $77,050 for upgrades to the aeration blower at the New Alexandria Treatment Plant.
• Economic Growth Connection of Westmoreland, $275,238 for a new truck to be used by the Westmoreland County Food Bank.
• Export Borough, $330,466 to relocate a medical helicopter pad and a new public works truck
• Loyalhanna Township, $47,044 for a new public works truck.
• City of New Kensington, $169,345 for a new police vehicle, as well as for an excavator and trailer.
• Salem Township, $350,000 to extend public water lines.
• Washington Township, $823,625 for an expansion project by the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Company, as well as for storm sewer work in the Paulton area.
